Chemistry 1st Paper is where a lot of HSC students quietly decide they are not a chemistry person. Almost always that decision gets made in one specific place: the gap between a formula that was handed over and a board question that assumes you know where it came from. This course is built to close that gap.

Every chapter opens with the mechanism rather than the memorised result — why an electron moves where it moves, and what that lets you predict about a reaction you have never seen before. The formula still arrives. It just arrives second.

What the course covers

The full 1st Paper syllabus, in the order the concepts actually depend on each other rather than the order the textbook prints them:

• Laboratory Safety and Practice — the chapter everyone skips and the board keeps asking about

• Qualitative Chemistry — flame colours, precipitate reactions, identifying an unknown salt

• Atomic Structure and Periodic Properties — orbital diagrams and the anomalies that break the trend

• Chemical Bonding — VSEPR, molecular shape, ionic versus covalent character

• Mole Concept and Stoichiometry — limiting reagent and percentage yield without a calculator

• States of Matter, Chemical Equilibrium and Chemical Kinetics

• Thermochemistry — enthalpy cycles you can actually construct under exam pressure

How the classes ran

Classes met three evenings a week and every session was recorded and posted the same night. Nothing was taught once and left behind.

Each session closed on a real board question drawn from the last ten years, worked end to end at exam pace — not set as homework and reviewed later, but solved live with the wrong turns left in. Watching a teacher recover from a dead end is the part that transfers.

Assessment and feedback

Written tests ran on a two-week cycle, one after each pair of chapters. Scripts came back marked to the specific line where the marks were lost, not with a bare number at the top.

By the final month, students sitting the mocks were averaging eleven minutes per creative question against the fifteen they started with — which is the entire difference between finishing the paper and leaving a question blank.

The point was never to make you faster at writing. It was to make you stop re-deriving the same three ideas in every single answer.

Who this is for

Class 11 students taking Chemistry 1st Paper who can already handle SSC-level chemistry and want the concepts to hold together rather than sit in a list. You should be comfortable with:

• SSC Chemistry

• SSC Mathematics — particularly logarithms and ratios

• Scientific notation and unit conversion

Dates, seats and access

The 2026 cycle ran from 10 February to 25 June 2026 with 150 seats. Enrolment for it closed on 8 February.

Enrolled students keep full access indefinitely — every recording, every note, every solved paper, and the complete question bank. Access does not expire when the teaching period ends, so this doubles as a revision archive for the board exam itself.
